Always Remember

January 30, 2012
Always Remember

I keep you in my heart,
You are always on my mind.
Though you’ve gone away,
I know I’ll see you at heaven’s gates.
Always Remember.

Stay in my thoughts,
stay in my prayers.
You held me when I was down.
I hold you in my heart.
Forever; I’ll always remember.

Standing in the church,
memories of you are spoken in whispers.
I think about the times at the lake.
Even though you’re physically gone,
my heart will never truly move on.
You will always be carried with me, in my memories.

The empty shell casing sits in my car.
It reminds me of you and where you are.
I’ll never forget the 21 gun salute
on that cold December day.
My heart was torn to pieces,
I know everything has changed,
but in my mind, I’ll always remember.

Don’t be afraid to visit in my dreams,
you’re more than welcome to watch over me.
Don’t forget, I’ll always need you in my life,
always remember: your friends, family, and wife.
Grandpa, I will always remember,
And will don’t you ever forget;
I love you.

  2. I enjoyed your poem. It is easy to tell that you were writing about someone that was close to you even before the ending when you mentioned "Grandpa". I am sorry for your loss. I also enjoyed that you used free form in writing your poem. Good Job!
